Mask My Words

Mask My Words
When everything you hold dear is taken all you have left is the story to tell.
When everything you hold dear is taken all you have left is the story to tell.
When everything you hold dear is taken all you have left is the story to tell.
Mask My Words is meant to be a play on the saying, "mark my words." We use this phrase when we want someone to listen and remember what we are saying.
The project will be a collection of personal stories accompanied by a decorated surgical mask displayed on white styrofoam heads.
Mask submissions will be individually selected for inclusion in a gallery exhibit. The masks will be displayed on white styrofoam heads with their accompanied story in full or excerpts.
A personal story of how this pandemic has impacted your life, your business, your world view.
Your mask should be a cheap paper surgical mask decorated to reflect your story. Paint, draw, words, images, collage...whatever is the best visual representation of your unique experience of the pandemic.
All submissions must include your age and your city, province/region and country. You can request to share your name or remain anonymous.
I do not want funds to impede your ability to participate. If you cannot afford to purchase a paper surgical mask for decoration, or the cost of postage to submit is a barrier to participation please let me know. I will gladly send you a kit with return postage so that you can share your story without the burden of added costs during a particularly trying time for most families.
Be sure to include:
- a story
- a decorated mask
- your name (note if requesting to remain anonymous for the project)
- age
- city, town, province, region, country
Please submit with a cardboard insert to protect the artwork from damage.
